SAMA-winning, all-girl group BlackByrd have always felt strongly about the abuse of women and children.   So they are delighted to be part of the Clicks Group initiative this year, supporting the stand against this scourge of South African society, by participating directly in the 2013 Sixteen Days of Activism campaign.

Last year, in fact, BlackByrd was selected by SABC 3 to head, musically and visually, the national broadcaster’s campaign for Women’s Month, and subsequently their Sixteen Days of Activism initiative.   This because BlackByrd’s sensitive song ‘All For Me’ (penned by lead vocalist Tarryn Lamb), drew attention to abuse against women and children, and made a huge impact on the women of South Africa. At the time, the SABC reported a massive positive response to the song, because the meaningful lyrics really struck a chord with the women of South Africa, and the overall campaign was a huge success. ‘All For Me’ also went to number one on SA radio stations and actually became the top South African song of the year on the Highveld and Kfm overall year-end charts.

The three members of BlackByrd, Tarryn, Tamsyn and Axene, are proud, and at the same time humbled, that they have been able to contribute in some small way to this uplifting and positive Blow The Whistle campaign.
